Well it’s officially here, and in my hands!
Self-publishing a book is a very surreal thing really. Mainly because the only person in the world who thinks it is an important thing is you (and maybe your mum!), but also because oddly enough there is no champagne (unless you buy it) or confetti. The next bit is the hard bit, encouraging people to read it and then leave a review. Anyway, the excitement of opening a box filled with the physical book that you wrote and put together is still a fun thing. So why should you read it? That is a good question, why does anyone ever read any book? You know the author? I guess that’s a good start, or you like the genre? You think you may have experienced similar – travelled with three chatterbox kids or lived overseas, perhaps you know how it is to juggle jobs, children, pets and live on the other side of the world. Perhaps you are about to experience something similar and want to get a glimpse into whether or not you’ll come out on top (I can’t guarantee you will, and there were many ‘could do betters’ for me, but heck, it’s relatable no?). Perhaps you have an Easter or summer break booked away from a challenging job and life and just want something light hearted that might make you laugh out loud and forget about the real world for a bit…please can I just remind you, however, this was my real world for five bloody years!
