Across the Pondlife – the physical BOOK !!!!!!

So, this isn’t exactly the sort of post I tend to publish on my blog these days. I mostly stick to travel now. However, this is quite an important post, and it needs to live somewhere.

And, if I’m honest, it is about travel… in a roundabout sort of way.

If you’ve been around my blogs since the early 2000s, you may remember my witterings and ramblings about our life in a little clapboard house in the New England woods, where I spent five years attempting to channel my inner Ma Ingalls while raising three extremely garrulous under-fives.

During those years I managed to clock up quite a readership, and the idea of turning those stories into a book was floated more than once. However, toddlers have a habit of turning into children and then young adults, and between all the parenting that entailed (alongside holding down an actual paid job), writing a book never quite made it to the top of the to-do list.

Fast forward twenty years.

Life has changed somewhat. I now find myself writing a PhD thesis and, clearly possessed by an overwhelming desire to procrastinate, I decided that this was the perfect moment to finally sit down and turn those stories into a book.

It hasn’t been entirely smooth sailing. My publisher going bust was not one of my happier days. But thanks to the help of a wonderful friend, with the skills, the know-how, and the name in the publishing world, we decided to take matters into our own hands and publish it ourselves.

So here we are.

On 25th March 2026, Across the Pondlife will be arriving on the virtual shelves of online retailers in both paperback and e-book form.

Nothing and no one has been spared, so brace yourselves for the chaos of a life well lived: five years in the USA as a slightly sweary Caroline Ingalls (minus the horse and buggy), but with plenty of wildlife, culture clashes, and toddler capers to keep us thoroughly on our toes.
